Warriors: Ex-Warriors Around The League 2020-21
(originally written 1/8/21)
-
Harrison Barnes (a Warrior from 2012-16): This season Barnes returned for his third season (second full) with the Sacramento Kings, who traded for him in February 2019. Thru 1/9 Barnes has started all 10 of Sacramento's games, averaging 16.9 PPG on 51% shooting. He was 5-for-12 against Golden State on 1/4.
-
Jordan Bell (2017-19): Bell has passed through five organizations since leaving the Warriors. Most recently he was let go by the Wizards in December 2020; Bell remains unsigned as of 1/9.
-
Ky Bowman (2019-20): Bowman signed with the Clippers for 2020-21, but was waived in mid-December and remains unsigned.
-
Alec Burks (2019-20): Burks is gunning this year for the improved Knicks, averaging 20.7 PPG off the bench and leading the league in 3-PT shooting (.667) thru 1/9. He's currently nursing a sprained ankle and may return next week.
-
Willie Cauley-Stein (2019-20): When he's not mixing it up with ex-teammate DeMarcus Cousins, Cauley-Stein (thru 1/9) is averaging 5.5 PPG on 64% shooting for the Mavericks, with whom he re-signed in early December 2020.
-
Quinn Cook (2017-19): Cook is in his second year as a Lakers reserve, though with Dennis Schroder now in tow, Cook is barely seeing the court. He's got 2.2 PPG in about three MPG this season thru 1/9.
-
DeMarcus Cousins (2018-19): After one injury after the other in recent years, Cousins has at least returned to the court. He's only shooting 29% in five games for Houston (four off the bench), and averaging 5.8 PPG thru 1/9. He's also been ejected from a game.
-
Kevin Durant (2016-19): As is well-known, Durant didn't play in 2019-20 (Achilles) but has returned strong this season—28.2 PPG, 51% shooting in seven games for Brooklyn thru 1/9. He's currently sidelined with COVID, however.
-
Jacob Evans (2018-20): Evans signed with the Knicks for 2020-21, but was waived in December and remains unsigned. His career may be over.
-
Justin Holiday (2014-15): This veteran, who helped Golden State to its 2015 title, is coming off the bench for the Pacers. In nine games thru 1/9, he's averaging 11.2 PPG on 53.7% shooting, which would be a career high by 10 percentage points if it holds up.
-
Andre Iguodala (2013-19): This season Iguodala returned to the Miami Heat, for whom he played in last season's NBA Finals. Through 1/9 he's played seven games, starting two, and averages 4.3 PPG. Strangely, he's shooting 36% overall but 46% on threes in his 17th season.
-
Damian Jones (2016-19): Not much here; Jones is buried deep on the Suns bench. He's gotten in four games, taken three shots, and made one thru 1/9.
-
Patrick McCaw (2016-18): McCaw is in his third season with the Raptors, but has yet to play (knee surgery).
-
JaVale McGee (2016-18): Though a full-time starter with the Lakers last season, McGee is being used exclusively off the bench by Cleveland. Thru 1/9, he's averaging 8.8 PPG on 47% shooting.
-
Alfonzo McKinnie (2018-19): McKinnie is now a Lakers sub, joining former Warriors teammate Cook down in southern California. He averages 2.8 PPG in five games off the bench thru 1/9. LA represents McKinnie's fourth team in four seasons.
-
Glenn Robinson (2019-20): A starter with the Dubs, Robinson is coming off the bench in Sacramento, averaging a tick under eight PPG in about 19 MPG. He's sank 13 of 14 free throws thru 1/9.
-
DeAngelo Russell (2019-20): Soon-to-be-25-year-old Russell continues to hoist for the Timberwolves, averaging 19.6 PPG (second on the team). He's shooting only 66% on FT's (he's 77% career) and 43% overall, but is at 39% from deep thru 1/9.
-
Omari Spellman (2019-20): Spellman was with the Knicks this season, but was waived in January 2021 (without playing a minute) to make roster room for Taj Gibson.
