MLB: A Retrospective Of October 2017, NLCS
(originally written October 2017)

The motto of this year's MLB Playoffs: Take '17. The field has been narrowed from 10 prospective champs to four...and not the four many expected. Here, we look back on the National League Championship Series.

True, four of Albert Almora's first five homers of 2017 were against lefties. True, Clayton Kershaw is no ordinary lefty. But the stars aligned for Almora in Game 1, as he began the scoring with a two-run jack vs. "The Claw" in the 4th.

After Game 5, the powers-that-be couldn't choose between Turner (.333, two homers, seven RBI) and Taylor (.789 SLG, five BB, five runs) for Series MVP, so both men were awarded the trophy. Pictured far left: the great Joe Torre.
