MLB: A Retrospective Of October 2019, NLWC
(originally written October 2019)

Not until the season's final day were all the playoff brackets settled, but now that they are, TSR gives you full rundowns of each clash. Here, we look back on the NL Wild Card Game.

Nats skipper Dave Martinez chose Max Scherzer—instead of Stephen Strasburg—to start the Wild Card Game, though he'd been less than excellent recently. Early on, as Mad Max coughed up two early homers, it looked to be a potential mistake.

After a walk to 3B Anthony Rendon loaded the bases in the 8th, LF Juan Soto tattooed a single to right that tied the score! RF Trent Grisham—subbing for injured superstar Christian Yelich—whiffed on the ball, allowing Rendon to score the winning run as well. Nats 4, Brewers 3.
